President & Owner
Lynch Outdoors, Inc and Bud & Betty Hunting Calls
Russell Lynch first began his interest in the wild turkey about 1972 when he was 15 years old. He built his own calls for mostly economic reasons in those days. He turkey hunted throughout his youth and young-adult years and is still an avid hunter today.
Around the 1980’s he became disenchanted with the calls available on the market and returned to building his own turkey calls. He began to experiment with various woods and surfaces and created his own designs. As a result of his personal hunting experience, and success in his creativity, quality and craftsmanship, he was able to produce a very good sounding call and fellow hunters began to request that he reproduce the calls for them. By 1996 he began to offer his custom made turkey calls for sale.
As the calls grew in popularity, Russell began to sell the calls at local gun shows and deciding that his newly formed company needed a name, he called it “Bud & Betty Hunting Calls” after his two children's nicknames (Mitch, who was called "Bud" and little Lacy, who he called "Betty").
Within a year, the company had grown and a website was built and posted to the internet by Mitch. The response was great and to meet demand Russell, who was working out of a two-car garage, built a 30 x 70 square foot shop as a stand-alone structure, complete with spray room, assembly room and a 16 x 16 square foot office with covered porch.
Russell entered his calls in the National Wild Turkey Federation's new Hunting Calls Competitions and won Five Grand National Championship Titles in the Hunting Calls Divisions, along with over 20 other trophies and awards. He has had several very favorable articles in national industry-related publications and has been in a number of nationally televised hunting shows as a guest. In 2006, Russell became one of the Co-Hosts of the Dodge Everyday Sportsman televison show. All of this national recognition has given Russell a presence: an excellent image and standing within the hunting community.
In 2004, Russell realized that television and video was where he would be able to best convey his personal philosophies and ideals concerning hunting, the hunting industry and Bud & Betty. With that, he starting up Lynch Outdoors Video Productions, the newest business unit to the Lynch Outdoors, Inc. family. This has opened a door to a multitude of possibilities, including promotion of products and services through hunting videos, DVD promos, commercial spots and entertainment and how-to videos.
Today sees Russell and Bud & Betty Hunting Calls at the threshold of tremendous growth and incredible success and Russell considers himself extremely blessed to be able to have a company within the wonderful hunting community.
