Jay Lapeyrouse was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and he’s lived there his entire life. He studied Criminal Justice at Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1988 to 1990. He’s been an Officer with the Baton Rouge City Police Department since 1990.

Jay says his daddy was never a big hunter; however, he felt it was important for his sons to experience the outdoors. He took them camping and hunting and instilled gun safety while doing so. In 1990 Carlos Hurst introduced Jay to turkey hunting and he has been passionate about it ever since. Over the last 8 years he has guided hunts in South Louisiana for hunters from all over the country. He enjoys hunting all variety of game throughout the United States but to this day, nothing can compare to the turkey woods in the spring.

In 2001, Mr. John Barton, Sr. of Clinton, Louisiana, gave Jay his first Bud & Betty turkey call. This became his “go-to” call and brought many long beards to the end of the barrel. Through the years Jay has placed many phone orders for calls to Bud & Betty. He figures those calls cost him at least double due to long distance charges for the lengthy conversations with Russell. It became obvious quickly that Jay had found a kindred spirit. In 2006, Jay was asked to become a member of the Lynch Outdoors video team. For Jay, turkey hunting was brought to a whole new level. He is looking forward to representing Bud & Betty and Lynch Outdoors at upcoming trade shows and seminars.

Jay is lucky enough to have a wife who is not only an awesome wildlife cook, Dana also hunts herself. It's a real family affair for them, as 8 year old Adam also loves to go hunting with his Dad.

Jay’s hobbies include collecting antique guns and fishing lures and playing poker with his buddies. Jay has lived in Louisiana, the sportsman’s paradise, his whole life and enjoys fresh and saltwater fishing, crabbing, crawfishing, hunting (and cooking) anything that crawls, flies, runs, swims or hops.
