Brett lived his entire life in Worthington, Indiana in a small farming community. His family owns a small farm and he spent most of his childhood playing outside with his two brothers.
Hunting and outdoor activities have always been a major part of Brett's life. He began hunting with his father when he was very small. Since that time it has become one of his favorite activities. Although he was active in both football and track in high school, Brett never felt those things compared to the thrill of hunting. Luckily for him, his entire family, most of his friends, and his lovely wife Danielle also hunt. To Brett, this means that hunting has always been a way to spend time with the people who mean the most to him.
Brett began hunting mostly squirrel and deer on his family farm, but as he grew, he branched out and now hunts many different types of animals in several states. He enjoys watching hunting shows and movies when he can’t be out there himself. Another way he likes to spend the off season of hunting is shooting. Brett loves shooting sporting clays, skeet, and trap.
"Hunting does something for me personally that no other sport or activity does. It is exciting in a way that nothing else is. The rush of seeing a big buck or having an old gobbler hammering it, just out of shooting range, drives me in the fall and spring. When someone asks me why I like hunting so much I have a hard time answering them. Yes, I tell them hunting is fun but it is much more than that. I can not fully explain to them the feeling that I receive while hunting. If you love the outdoors and hunting, then you understand the feeling. When the temperature falls and the rut is in full swing at home, you will not find me wasting any more time than I have to outside the woods. As much as I like the fall nothing can compare to the springtime and turkey season. A feeling that I cannot explain comes from the woods during the springtime."
Brett believes the great outdoors means more to him than just hunting.
"When I think of the outdoors, hunting and fishing always comes to mind. These things have always brought enjoyment and fun into my life. Some of the best times that I can remember with both friends and family have happened while hunting and fishing. At home, deer and turkey camps are a place where good friends and family members tell stories and jokes about each other. Hunting is more then just spending time outside; instead, for me, it’s a way of life. I am thankful for the life that I have, the outdoors and hunting will always be high on my list of priorities."
Brett is a graduate of Indiana State University and found his perfect match in his wife, Danielle, who also enjoys hunting and the out-of-doors.
