I haven’t re-invented the wheel with the design of this call, but have produced a very nice, effective little box. This is an old-time design that
is tried and true and some say the scratch box will work when nothing else will. It will yelp, cluck, purr, cut and even cackle if you’re good enough. It’s a great low to mid-range volume call to use when that old gobbler has heard it all. These calls are extremely easy to use and are the perfect turkey call for beginners and experts alike.
This year I'm making the call out of three different types of wood (mahogany, cedar, and poplar) and each has a little different tone.
I use this call a lot in mid to late season and built my first scratch box call 25 years ago at age 14. I call this the “Finger Tip” call because I lost the tips of two fingers in my shop building this one on Christmas Eve in ’97 (I’m fine now)!
Tip: This call, like all my calls, has been played for sound quality and has had a striker specifically matched to it for the best turkey sounds, which is included with the call when you order. Other strikers will sound good, but this is the one we think sounds the best!
