Bud & Betty Call Care Instructions
Treat this call as you would any of your other fine hunting equipment.
Our calls are not intended for use in the rain. The wood will swell which could cause the sound quality to be compromised or the surface to be damaged. If the call does become wet, allow to air dry slowly. Do not blow dry or lay in front of any heat source. Leaving the call in a garage or covered porch to dry slowly with the actual temperatures is a good choice for drying purposes only.
Our calls are not intended to be exposed to temperature extremes. Do not leave our calls in your vehicle, even for a day. This can cause the wood to dry too quickly and twist, which will crack the surface and/or alter the sound quality. You should use some consideration in your choice of off-season storage of your quality hunting calls. Barns, sheds or hunting camps which will allow the calls to drop below freezing for extended periods of time or reach high-heat in the summer are not advisable.
To removed fingerprints or the oils of your hands from the surface of the calls:
Slate & Aluminum Calls - use only the green scratch pad provided. For best results scratch all calls in a back-and-forth motion, always using the same direction.
Glass & Crystal Calls - use the dry-wall sandpaper provided and only clean the scratched section in one direction to push out any dirt or glass dust. Do not go back-and-forth. Do not buff the surface.
PLEASE NOTE: in most cases, call damage is caused by over-conditioning of the surface. Do not condition your call if it doesn’t need it. If your striker is slipping on your call surface, it is very possible that the call itself does not need conditioning, your striker does. The wood tip will compress and become slick after continued use and a couple of strokes with sandpaper should rough it back up.
These calls are not fragile but must be taken care of for life-long use. Bud & Betty guarantees any calls treated in the above manner forever.
How to Return a Call to Bud & Betty
